The Partition of Mars: Preview # 1

The red sands of the surface world swirled around as the Zorlath space marines landed on the planet Mars. The Zorlaths, a lizard-like extraterrestrial race, had taken a great interest in this region of space known as the Milky Way and sought to make it their own. After all, it was a region in great need of a master, after the fall of the Great Empire of Man several centuries ago. The space in which the empire dominated, which was vast and held onto several solar systems, was still being argued and fought over by the democratically elected bureaucrats of the intergalactic community. Most of these squabbles were the result of some ill founded ideas of some planet's outer boarders expanding further than they actually were, or the religion of some particular system claiming possession of a vast swathes of territory under the justification of it being the religion's fatherland. It did not help that the majority of those involved in these arguments were too young to have remembered anything of the Great Empire or its collapse and did not bother to learn any about it, and so the wars continued to rage out of their own ignorance.
